Home Improvement Weekend

After a crazy month of travel for the holidays, C and I decided that for the next month we want to stay home.  Er, well, C decided.  Traveling can be so exhausting, especially if it is just one trip right after another.  So I agreed to the month-long grounding policy under one condition - that we take some time to improve our apartment.

Since we moved in we've had big plans for the apartment - things we were going to hang on the walls, ways we could arrange the living room, knick-knacks we should keep to put somewhere special, etc.  But once we moved in and life started, things literally started to pile up.  We've had posters leaning up against their intended walls for months, a coffee table that we can't figure out what to do with, and a bathroom closet that was in dire need of some organization.  This weekend was the first unofficial Home-Improvement Weekend.  We did so much!

Naked Lamp, No More

We rearranged the living room so that my desk is in a better, less distraction prone area.  We cleaned the back entryway where C has been storing his salt-covered Carhartts after work (he does landscaping in the spring/summer/fall, but is doing snow removal now).  We even bought a new lampshade for this naked lamp that we've had for ages.

With home improvement in mind, I also proposed that C and I look into starting a new diet of clean-eating.  I've been reading about this style of eating for a while now and I really think it's the most simple idea - eat food as close to nature as possible.  I don't want to give up meat or bacon or sweets, but I just want to find easier and healthier ways to make them.  So I spent most of the afternoon developing a menu for our first week as clean-eaters and made a (mostly) clean pizza for dinner.

Whole-wheat crust, natural tomato sauce, tons of veggies, a bit of cheese, and some salami.  Delicioso!
